Currently, there are just six video game console systems that are considered to be the most popular in the market. These would be the Microsoft Xbox 360, the Sony PlayStation 2 or PS2 and PlayStation 3 or PS3, the PSP or PlayStation Portable, the Nintendo Wii and the Nintendo DS. With six of them, it could be quite hard to decide on which one would best suit your gaming capabilities and requirements. Once you add in the other older console systems as well, the choices are even more endless.
You could first consider the price – this would probably be the biggest factor for most people as they choose a console system to use. Prices can be as high as $599 for the PS3 or PlayStation 3 to just $129 for a Nintendo DS unit. Now, if you would really like to save money then you could just opt to buy the past generation console systems such as the PlayStation, a Nintendo 64 or a Super Nintendo which you could buy for not more than $20, if you would be buying them used. You would also need to consider the prices of the games that you would be using with the console that you have chosen. Games for the PS3 or an Xbox 360 would usually be around $60 new, while games for a Nintendo DS are around $30 new. Games that are for the older systems could be harder to find with the retailers, however they are often cheaper online.
Another factor would be the graphics. We have all seen that the quality of graphics has improved over the years and so, the newer console systems would of course have the best graphics. So far, PS3 and Xbox 360 have the best graphics. They could display in a High Definition TV. The graphical capabilities of Nintendo Wii are not as good as the other two, however many are satisfied in the graphics that it has. The PSP and Nintendo DS lack the graphical power which the home console systems have as they are portable, however the display of the PSP is better than the DS.
